A Quick Overview

Jesus

Christians follow the teachings of and about Yeshua of Nazareth, commonly referred to as Jesus Christ. (Jesus is the Greek form of  Yeshua, and Christ is Greek for the "anointed one.") Yeshua was a Jewish preacher who was born between 4 and 7 BC. He is said to have been executed by the Romans in Palestine in April of 30 CE. Most Christians regard him as the son of God. They also believe that he is God, the second part of a Trinity. (The Trinity consists of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit; three separate beings who form a single deity.) Most Christians believe that Jesus was with God before the creation of the world, later born of a virgin, was resurrected three days after his death, and then went back to Heaven. Many believe that Hell awaits anyone who has not repented their sins and trusted Jesus as Lord/ Savior. Baptism is needed for the remission of sins. (This says that only those who have been baptized will be saved while the rest who never had the chance will spend eternity in Hell.) It is said that Jesus will return to earth to judge everyone, the dead and the living.
